The Council's Call
Gord faces a council of gods after Angra's escape and receives the names that will transform her small band into a greater alliance.
After Angra's escape
Set shortly after Black Forest Shadow, The Council's Call follows Gord as she accepts responsibility for Angra's escape. The gods agree that the Architect of the CVEs can no longer be hunted by one guardian. Gord must build an alliance from warriors abandoned by history, death, and the gods themselves.
Tyr names his greatest former pupil: The Valkyrie, whose dispute with Odin made even her true name dangerous. Zeus proposes Mina, the former supernatural headhunter whom Hades cursed with immortality when she tried to leave his service. Deus and Diva offer two further possibilities—Nil, a necromancer beyond a worm-guarded cave, and Maya, a mortal jungle warrior whose skill needs no divine source.
Mithra offers no name. Instead, she sends Gord home to Mount Damavand, where Artemisia waits with an entire Amazonian army.
Place in the story
The song bridges the original 1865 team and the wider coalition seen in Asgard Mission. It also explains the Valkyrie's modern title, Mina's connection to Carmilla, and how Artemisia and the Amazonians enter Gord's war.
