Maya
The mortal jungle warrior whose discipline earns her a place among gods and immortals as an original member of the Hexbreakers.
Maya is a mortal jungle warrior and one of the eight original members of the Hexbreakers. She stands apart from many of Gord's recruits because her capabilities do not come from divinity, immortality, undeath, or supernatural transformation.
The Council's Nomination
Diva recommends Maya when The Divine Council directs Gord to expand her force after Angra Mainyu's escape. Maya earns her place through training, survival, and combat discipline alone.
Her nomination broadens the council's definition of extraordinary. The new team needs the right expertise rather than the most spectacular source of power, allowing a mortal warrior to stand beside gods, ancient heroes, a necromancer, and immortals.
The Hexbreakers
Maya joins the original Hexbreakers with Nil, Carmilla, and the recruits gathered through the council's recommendations.
Maya's first known appearance in the wider mythology is recorded in The Council's Call.

Maya remains mortal throughout her life and eventually dies of old age. Her finite contribution is no less important: she helps establish the organization that gradually becomes the Black Forest Commandos without receiving an unnatural extension of her lifetime.
