Angra Mainyu

The calculating shadow lord whose CVE architecture turns corruption into a threat that can spread across worlds without him.

Angra Mainyu is the shadow lord behind the CVE monsters and the Black Forest Commandos' principal long-term enemy. His danger lies less in physical strength than in architecture: he creates systems of corruption that continue to spread after he leaves the scene.

The Asgard Mission

Angra does not need to stand on Asgard's battlefield personally. The invasion is the durable expression of his design. By this point, CVEs can exist as intangible shadows, become solid attackers, imitate civilians, or occupy living hosts.

That variety turns the conflict into more than a contest of weapons. Asgard must solve problems of inventory, identity, trust, containment, and recovery—the same systemic weaknesses Angra's creatures are designed to exploit.

Character

Patient, calculating, and oriented toward indirect destabilization, Angra is classified as INTJ. The classification creates a deliberate parallel with Gord: she builds layered systems of defense, while he builds layered systems of attack.

Capabilities

  • CVE architecture: Creates or engineers shadow entities with multiple operational states.
  • Shadow corruption: Uses darkness as both material and attack surface.
  • Indirect warfare: Continues threatening realms without appearing personally in every conflict.
  • Proliferation: Turns one breach into a distributed and self-sustaining crisis.
Spoilers for Black Forest ShadowShow

Angra's influence emerges from the shadows around Schattenburg during the 1865 crisis. Jack initially serves him, drawing Gord, Rothütle, and Evie into a confrontation that ends with Angra unleashed upon the wider world.

Jack later becomes a Black Forest Commando and specializes in identifying and destroying the creatures of his former master.
