Asgard Mission
The campaign in which Asgard's defenders and the Black Forest Commandos combine inventory, identity, light, and force against a CVE invasion.

The Asgard Mission is the campaign at the center of the published comic Black Forest Commandos: Asgard Mission. It expands a CVE outbreak into a multi-realm crisis and forces Asgard's gods to adopt the Black Forest Commandos' layered approach to security.
The Call for Specialists
Thor is among the first to engage the shadow creatures. Mjölnir and Asgardian iron pass through their intangible bodies, forcing him to retreat and report the failure to Odin. Odin recognizes the creatures as Corrupting Vale Entities (CVEs) and summons the Black Forest Commandos, who have fought them since 1865.
The Siren escalates the realm's emergency response from Code Red to Code Black as the shadows spread beyond the original defensive line.
Containment and Classification
Gord divides the mission into manageable objectives: retake the main district, contain the remaining infestation, protect hardened districts, and stop disguised attackers from crossing into defended areas.
The defenders identify three CVE states:
- Type I — Shadow: intangible and vulnerable to light.
- Type II — Solid: forced into physical form by light and vulnerable to ordinary weapons.
- Type III — Host Infestation: imitating or occupying a civilian body.
Rothütle obtains Asgard's SBOM, and The Valkyrie turns it into a checkpoint reference. Jack's sensors and Amazonian life-force detection add further layers for distinguishing infiltrators from residents and victims.
Security Metaphors
The mission translates several software-security ideas into the story:
- an SBOM becomes an authoritative inventory
- checkpoints become identity and admission controls
- CVE states require different detection and response methods
- specialists provide defense in depth
- a powerful mitigation can still create unacceptable collateral damage
