Carmilla is a vampire ruler whose court intersects with the long, morally complicated history of Mina. Their connection draws Mina and Evie across a hostile countryside toward Carmilla's castle.
The Court
Mina enters Carmilla's ballroom with deliberate violence. She destroys members of the vampire's entourage while addressing Carmilla through threat, mockery, attraction, and invitation. Mina's immortality and unusual relationship with light make her something the court cannot easily consume or control.
Character
Carmilla occupies the unstable border between antagonist and ally. Her authority is theatrical, personal, and rooted in the court around her. The song Carmilla presents that authority during Mina's confrontation with the court.
Spoilers for The Council's Call and CarmillaShowHide
After Hades curses Mina with immortality, she withdraws into a long sleep inside a coffin associated with Carmilla. The story does not yet establish whether Carmilla protected, imprisoned, or merely inherited the sleeping assassin.
Mina's confrontation with Carmilla is not a conventional hunt. She offers the vampire a place among the Hexbreakers, turning the destruction of her old court into an extreme recruitment pitch. Carmilla accepts and joins Gord's original team.
Carmilla later leaves the organization for Bravo Team, serving alongside Azar, TahmTan, and Lorelei.
