Mithra

An ancient goddess and strategist whose protection of Gord, Artemisia, and the Amazonians sustains alliances across millennia.

Mithra is an ancient goddess, member of The Divine Council, political ally, and keeper of knowledge that predates the Black Forest Commandos by thousands of years. Her ancient history with Gord establishes that the Black Forest Commandos' modern commander was already part of a much older conflict.

The Ancient Connection

Mithra remembers watching Gord fight in the ancient world. Their shared history explains why Gord can send her a message containing almost no context and still expect a meaningful response.

Mithra's influence is rarely expressed as direct battlefield force. She works through relationships, timing, concealed movement, and an understanding of how separate powers can be brought into the same operation.

The Cosmic Mountain

Mithra's realm is Harā Bərəzaitī, the luminous cosmic mountain. Its earthly projection lies on Alborz. The divine realm exists beyond the physical mountain range: Alborz is its manifestation in the material world. The same relationship connects the Greek divine realm to Mount Olympus.

The cosmic mountain provides the sanctuary where Mithra shelters both living Amazonians and the souls of their fallen. Mount Damavand, where she sends Gord to meet Artemisia, belongs to the Alborz landscape onto which her realm projects.

Zoroastrian Connections

The Mihr Yasht, verses 50–51, places Mithra's luminous dwelling on Harā Bərəzaitī, beyond darkness and demonic pollution. Zoroastrian accounts distinguish this cosmic mountain from the geographical Alborz range. In the Black Forest universe, that relationship takes the form of a divine realm and its earthly projection.

Sanctuary for the Amazonians

After Salamis, Zeus killed many Amazonian warriors and barred their souls from the Greek heavens. Mithra intervened, giving both the dead and the living Amazonians a home in her own realm. Artemisia and her surviving warriors found shelter alongside the souls of their fallen companions.

That intervention explains why the Amazonians mobilize at Mithra's command. Their alliance rests on her protection of their whole community, including those who could no longer seek refuge for themselves.

In The Council's Call, Mithra sends Gord to Mount Damavand to meet Artemisia and her army. Artemisia promises their support in the hunt for Angra Mainyu and his shadows. Gord's later Bravo + Gold request activates that established alliance.

Character

Calm, perceptive, and politically sophisticated, Mithra is classified as INFJ. Like Gord, she thinks beyond the immediate battle; unlike Gord, she more often shapes events indirectly through people, symbols, and carefully timed intervention.

Capabilities

  • Strategic reach: Mobilizes powerful individuals and allied forces across realms.
  • Sanctuary: Protects displaced allies and turns refuge into enduring solidarity.
  • Ancient knowledge: Carries a historical perspective measured in millennia.
  • Covert coordination: Moves reinforcements without revealing their role prematurely.
  • Political judgment: Understands what different leaders need without requiring exhaustive explanation.
Spoilers for Black Forest Commandos: Asgard MissionShow

Gord sends Mithra the two-word request Bravo + Gold. Mithra activates a covert reinforcement plan, sending Bravo Team and Artemisia's Amazonians into Asgard under civilian cover. Her later conversation with Freyja confirms Gord's ancient identity and connects the crisis to much older alliances.
