The Nomination of Maya
Diva recommends Maya, a mortal warrior from the jungle. Unlike many of the council's candidates, Maya's abilities do not come from divinity, undeath, or supernatural transformation. They are the product of survival and training.
The nomination broadens the council's definition of extraordinary. A mortal specialist can belong beside gods, ancient warriors, and immortals when experience and discipline answer the mission better than raw power.
Maya becomes an original member of the Hexbreakers. She remains mortal and eventually dies of old age.
Place on the Council
Diva's origin and wider history remain undisclosed. Her role in The Council's Call establishes her as an advocate for mortal capability within a gathering otherwise dominated by divine authority.
