Aži Dahāka
The half-man, half-dragon guardian who protected the deepest vaults of Schattenburg.
Aži Dahāka, aka the Dragon-Archer, is a half-man half-dragon entity that served as the guardian of the Schattenburg Castle. He is fierce and extremely formal, not even allowing Gord to pass without a proper authentication process. Aži Dahāka is one of the most powerful entities in the Black Forest Commandos' lore, and his presence in Schattenburg was a key factor in keeping Angra Mainyu imprisoned for centuries.
Role in the Lore
Aži Dahāka warns all the wanderers who try to get close to the castle, and ask them security questions to verify the are authorized to enter. Many have tried to bypass him, but none have succeeded.
In the Black Forest Shadow novel, Aži Dahāka only left his post once, to save Rothütle from the battle with Angra Mainyu. He then transfers Rothütle to a safe location, and stands guard there for a few days.
Trivia
- The picture of Aži Dahāka is on Isfahan's sigil, in front of Freiburg's old Rathaus, as Isfahan and Freiburg are sister cities.
